Shirley Bassey performed an hour TV Special in 1966 on the 'Show Of The Week', called 'The Sound of Shirley Bassey' on 22 Feb 1966. This show was initially broadcasted on BBC2. Shirley performs many of the songs she released on her 1965 live album titled, 'Shirley Bassey at the Pigalle', and her follow-up 1965 studio album titled, 'Shirley Stops the Shows'. In the USA the album was titled, 'Shirley Means Bassey'. This song is titled, 'La Bamba'; this is traditionally a Veracruz Mexico folk song, and was adapted by Ritchie Valens. Shirley performs this song in the Cabaret Style, and this particular production was arranged by the musical director of this show, Alyn Ainsworth.

"La Bamba" (pronounced [la ˈβamba]) is a Mexican folk song, originally from the state of Veracruz, also known as "La Bamba". The song is best known from a 1958 adaptation by Ritchie Valens, a Top 40 hit in the U.S. charts. Valens's version is ranked number 345 on Rolling Stone magazine′s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. "La Bamba" has been recorded by numerous artists, notably by Los Lobos whose version was the title track of the 1987 film La Bamba, a bio-pic about Valens; their version reached No. 1 in many charts in the same year.
