A&Z #1074 - Professional eater Randy Santel versus Trax BBQ's 80oz Half-Sheet BBQ Challenge hosted by Trax BBQ in McCordsville, Indiana which is northeast of Indianapolis, Indiana!! I finished up my dietetic internship on May 19th, 2022 and ‪@KatinaEatsKilos‬ and I knew we were leaving for Dublin, Ireland on June 7, 2022 to begin our international travel plans. Before leaving, we wanted to attempt 12 food challenges around 6 midwestern USA states. For event #9 of 12, we headed to McCordsville, Indiana which is just northeast of Indianapolis, so we could each attempt the delicious 80oz Half-Sheet BBQ Challenge hosted by Trax BBQ which has been serving the McCordsville area for more than 4 years now. I had 1 hour to feast on 36oz of smoked barbecue meats, 32oz of BBQ side items, 4oz of pickles, 6 hush puppies, and 2 slices of Texas toast. For the meats, there were 8oz of juicy pulled pork, 8oz of smoked beef brisket, 8oz of pulled chicken, and 2 sausages. For the sides, there was 8oz of macaroni & cheese, 8oz of dill potato salad, 8oz of creamy coleslaw, and I added 8oz of broccoli salad just because it looked delicious!! I was trying to become the 5th champion to win my $60 BBQ platter free plus a sweet t-shirt & gift set, along with a spot on the Half-Sheet Challenge Wall of Fame!! BIG thanks to everyone with Trax BBQ for the wonderful food, drinks, and hospitality!! Special thanks to everyone from around the McCordsville and Indianapolis area who came to watch and meet us that afternoon. - Andrew and Whitney Klein are Indianapolis locals whose passion for cooking with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. They opened Trax BBQ after a successful run as a pop-up restaurant at Scarlet Lane Brewing Company. Trax BBQ offers Carolina-style BBQ, included pulled pork, ribs, and brisket.
- CHALLENGE: Eat an entire Half Sheet Combo* which is 36 oz of smoked meats, 32 oz of sides, 4 oz pickles, 6 hush puppies, and 2 slices of Texas Toast in 60 minutes or less.
