Michael Jordan's last game in Chapel Hill was storybook stuff - a dramatic double overtime game vs. Duke with Jordan leading the Tar Heels and Dean Smith to victory. UNC's Matt Doherty hit a 12-foot jumper with :01 left to send the game to overtime tied 73-73. The game would go to a second overtime tied 79-79 before Jordan and fellow Tar Heel star Sam Perkins took over, scoring the Heels first 11 points of 2OT to fuel a 96-83 UNC win. The victory gave the Tar Heels a perfect 14-0 regular season record in ACC play and improved Carolina's overall record to 26-1.

Jordan led UNC with 27 points and grabbed five rebounds, while Perkins dropped 25 points on his Senior Night. Duke's Mark Alarie scored a game-high 28 for Duke and Johnny Dawkins went for 25.
