When you go to your local hardware store or building supply center to get your concrete supplies, some of the items will not found in the concrete aisle at all. Watch this video to find out what kind of useful items you might find in other parts of the store.

A broom is useful for many concrete projects, especially walking surfaces like slabs, steps and patios. Some specialty brooms can be found in the concrete aisle that are used for a broom textured finish giving traction and grip to walking surfaces. A general purpose broom, often found in other construction supply areas of the store, can also be used for this application and is often a cheaper option.

Sponges and sea sponges may not be in the concrete aisle, but you should definitely have some of each on hand, especially when working with concrete as a hobby. Regular sponges are handy for clean up as well as using them to smooth out placed concrete and leave a sponge finish (slightly rough). Sea sponges can be used to give a concrete project texture that is similar to a rock finish. They are a readily available and less expensive alternative to rubber texture mats.

Paint brushes have a lot of uses when working with concrete like applying a release agent to concrete molds, mixing slurries and more. A roll of plastic sheeting is also really handy to have on hand for so many reasons from making clean up easy to keeping a concrete project covered for improved hydration during curing. But neither of these items are not found in the concrete aisle.

There are so many products that can be useful for a lot of concrete projects found in different areas around the hardware stores and building supply centers.
