Youghal Sea Swimmers' Remarkable 10,000 Euro Donation to the RNLI

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, the Youghal Sea Swimmers made an extraordinary cheque presentation to the Youghal RNLI, totaling an impressive 10,000 euros. The generous contribution was celebrated at a special event held at Farrell's Summerfield Bar on Friday, February 2, 2024, where the sea swimmers gathered to mark the occasion. The substantial sum was raised from the profits of their acclaimed book, "Saltwater Souls," a testament to the community's creativity and dedication.

The ceremony was attended by many contributors to the book and members of the sea swimmers group, creating a joyous atmosphere. This donation, a significant boost to the Youghal RNLI, reflects the sea swimmers' ongoing commitment to supporting local charities. Remarkably, since their formation in 2020, the sea swimmers have raised an impressive total of 20,000 euros for various local causes through their fundraising efforts.

Guest of honour Cllr Mary Linehan Foley expressed admiration for the sea swimmers' group and praised the RNLI for their voluntary efforts in saving lives at sea. Linda Donoghue, speaking on behalf of the group, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to such a worthy cause. Kevin Daly of the Youghal RNLI, who accepted the generous cheque, conveyed his astonishment at the substantial amount raised. He paid immense respect to the sea swimmers, anticipating more significant achievements and positive contributions to the town of Youghal in the future.
