In this edition of ID That Tree, we're going to introduce you to another member of the oak family found in Indiana, northern pin oak. You can find it in the northern part of Indiana on dry and sandy soils. It's a member of the red and black oak group, so it has bristle tips on the ends of the lobes of the leaves. The twigs range from medium to dark grey, and the buds are very dark and sharply pointed.
