From the top of Constitution Hill, at dusk, DJ, producer, and model @ginajeanzmusic drops a smooth and deep house set, introducing us to the South African scene.

Born in Namibia and based in Cape Town for more than ten years, Gina Jeanz is the rising star of the South African circuit. After a few EPs and a notable participation in Red Bulls’ Made in 72 Hours project where she produced the track "Tonight” in three days with Hersh Sanders and Juzzy, Gina released her first album entitled Lucid Theory in December 2021. With its house and lounge rhythms borrowed from R&B melodies, African sounds, and a (well marked) hint of pop, her productions have reached the ears of Gilles Peterson and his mythical Worldwide. It is therefore quite natural that she was invited to celebrate Black History Month in February in Johannesburg, an event co-organized by Qwest TV at Constitution Hill, a historic prison now converted into a museum of democracy, to benefit the education project Bridges for Music (click here to donate)

A beautiful set in which she plays mostly tracks by her compatriots who are rocking the national house scene such as the young and talented Dawson, Gabbana, the dean of electro sud-af Kid Fonque and even Chronical Deep, winner of the 2019 Deep House Awards South Africa. We also hear the voice of the singer Sio who participated in Gina Jeanz's first album. A very fine mix that allows you to feel the effervescence of house in South Africa!
