It is one of the developing stations of Bangalore created for reducing the rush at Bangalore City railway station.
This station is located on the Bangalore–Pune & Bangalore–Hyderabad main lines. Being a main location, all trains bound towards Hubli & Hyderabad either originate from here or the ones from Bangalore City have a stop at this station. Hazrat Nizamuddin station was upgraded to help relieve congestion at New Delhi railway station and is recommended for first-time travellers, particularly those bound for Agra, as it is less busy and easier to navigate.
The station is very close to Sarai Kale Khan - Nizamuddin metro station on the Pink Line of the Delhi Metro. It is adjacent to Delhi's two important arteries, the Ring Road and Mathura Road, and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT.
