The Base4NFDI initiative promotes the development of basic services, i.e. technical and organisational services that are available to all researchers across the NFDI consortia, all disciplines and scientific fields. But what are these basic services? What is Base4NFDI and what is Base4NFDI not?

Elke Roesner answers these questions in an interview with Dr Sandra Zänkert, Section Liaison Officer at Base4NFDI. Zänkert explains the tasks of the basic services and introduces services that are already being developed, such as the authentication and authorisation service IAM4NFDI or the persistent identifier service PID4NFDI.

She also explains the process of promoting and implementing such basic services through Base4NFDI.
