Gaston's White River Resort is a well known designation for aviation enthusiasts, as well as trout fishermen in this part of country. The scenic backdrop is picturesque. We had planned to visit even before we had our airplane, so we were excited when we got the opportunity. The 3200 ft. grass strip is well maintained, and the sides are lined with trees all the way down, which makes for some pretty exciting low passes! The approach follows a bend in the river which has a ridge on the right side. I am glad it was a pretty calm day.

We met our friends Dan and Laura there and was pretty excited when they each wanted to take a flight in N234YP! Such a fun place to take a joy ride, but I must say, it was a little intimidating flying as pilot in command with these highly experienced pilots in the right seat. So fun!

Gaston's Resort offers dining, lodging, cabins, fishing, boat rentals, swimming pool, nature trails, a dock, picnic areas, a wildlife preserve, peacocks, and a gift shop. Everything there is top notch, especially the food. Sadly the rooms and cabins were all booked when we decided on this trip, so we had to get a room in a local town. For a weekend trip to get away, this place should definitely be on the list.
