How to make an all natural muscle balm. I have Lupus and use NOTHING ELSE. We used infused herbal oils, organic shea butter, organic cocoa butter, organic herbs, essential oils and beeswax from small, private beekeepers that do not use insecticides or engage in any harmful practices toward the bees. Unlike the world's leading maker of muscle balm, we do it the best way there is (and, it's not that hard!!!) This recipe is AMAZING and I truly hope that people who are in the business use it to be successful. It's an amazing recipe.

Recipe: makes about 16 oz of muscle balm. this is for a medium strength muscle balm. To make stronger, add more menthol and essential oils. Can also add cassia (cinnamon essential oil), cayenne pepper (capsacin). You can also use ground powdered ginger. If you use fresh ginger you will need to strain it and will also need a preservative.

To make a less potent muscle balm use less camphor and clovebud and leave everything else out except for the lavender. You can also add eucalyptus and/or rosemary.

For any strength you can add Vitamin E and/or aloe vera gel (not the juice...if you add the juice you will need a preservative.)

Medium Strength All Natural Muscle Balm

Butters/oils: 1.5 cups combination of any butters/oils you like. Good oils to mix with beeswax for your base (one or a mix, when I first started I used just sunflower and it was a nice, light base):
olive oil, sunflower oil, apricot oil, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, grapeseed oil,

Beeswax: 1.5 oz

If you don't want to make your own base with the butters/oils/beeswax, you can substitute petroleum jelly.

What to add to your own base or to the petroleum jelly:

7 grams menthol chips or menthol essential oil
2 grams clovebud essential oil
3 grams camphor essential oil
4 grams cajeput essential oil (optional)
3 grams wintergreeen or peppermint essential oil (optional)
4 grams lavender essential oil (optional)

Butters:
1/4 cup of shea butter and 1/4 cup of cocoa butter.

Oils: I used arnica infused oil, comfrey infused oil (both infusions a mix of sunflower oil, extra virgin olive oil and apricot oil.). If you want a less natural solution, you can use petroleum jelly for the base.

1.5 oz of beeswax (you don't need this if you're not making the base) ,etc...anything you prefer for a base.Making a healing salve as a base for a muscle balm...

Some kind of base - in this video I make a healing salve with comfrey and chamomile. You can make a salve with oil and beeswax (recipe in the video) OR use petroleum jelly.

Use menthol - either chips or liquid
use camphor

That's it. I also use cajeput, clovebud, wintergreen, eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender, frankincense. You don't have to use all those other EOs. To make a "RED" muscle balm, use cassia EO (cinnamon). Wear a mask when mucking with menthol (it makes me nauseous if I don't).
