This is conceptual music video for Marillion's "A Collection", first released as a B-side on the "No One Can" CD single, 1991. At the time there was debate among fans over whether it was a disturbing song about a serial killer collecting "souvenirs", or a dark but romantic love song. Two very different interpretations!
Lyricist John Helmer & singer Steve Hogarth both later commented on the song's history & true inspirations. Though too extensive to print here, their comments can be read at the blog "Marillion - Explanations of Song Elements": http://marillionations.blogspot.com/s...
The video here is based around the long-held "serial killer" theory. This fan-creation should not be taken as any sort of "official" statement on the song's meaning, but is intended only as a visual representation of why
many viewed the song in this way.
