These discoveries have caused a lot of controversies in the archaeological circles. Where we earlier had Neolithic farmers as the inhabitants 9,000 years ago, we are now seeing that perhaps even older human species such as Neanderthals were the first to venture into these islands. This has resulted to other researches being conducted to determine if these old hominins had the intelligence and ability to construct boats and sail the seas.
