Passenger traffic on this line is divided into regional (managed by Meridian) and long-distance (IC, EC, Railjet managed by DB and OBB).
As regards freight traffic, it is normally not very intense, however due to the temporary interruption for work in progress of the Kufstein-Rosenheim stretch, which lasted from 6 to 10 August, it was necessary to deviate numerous freight trains to and from Italy (which normally travel along the Brenner railway axis) via Tarvisio, passing through the Munich-Salzburg section.
