Batu Caves is a mogote that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Malay word batu, meaning 'rock'. The cave complex is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Murugan.
The limestone forming Batu Caves is said to be around 400 million years old. Some of the cave entrances were used as shelters by the indigenous Temuan people (a tribe of Orang Asli).

Please be aware that dress code is in place, as it is a place for worship. When you arrive at Batu Caves there will be members of staff scanning the crowd to make sure they're following the dress code.
A long skirt or pants for women, and make sure your shoulders are covered. For the guys a T shirt and shorts or long pants will be fine.
Don’t worry if you do arrive in the wrong clothing though, you can rent a sarong there.
