A job that some may question the need for and may say is cruel, well everyone is entitled to there opinion but it is a necessary job whether you disbud calves at eight weeks or do it later as we do. Each animal is given a local anaesthetic on each side so that they do not feel anything, they are then given twenty minutes for the local anaesthetic to take affect before the horns are taken off, any blood is then cauterized with a disbudding iron and a final spray with antiseptic spray, I hope you find the video enjoyable and informative, look out for an escaping steer and Jason hitting his head!
