August 31st, 1983 - Korean Airlines Flight #007 is high above the Sea of Japan with 269 people on board. The pilots are climbing to a higher altitude in an effort to conserve fuel. When the aircraft reaches its new altitude, its rocked by rapid decompression and the plane is out of control and spirals towards the sea and breaks up in mid-air.
