It's hard to imagine a time when free-to-play video games didn't dominate the industry. It seems like an easy way to get new players involved in the gaming space. But slowly but surely these "free" games turned out to be quite expensive. Is there a world where free-to-play games can actually work? Or are they doomed to micro-transactions and hidden pay to play adventures?
