This week, I'm getting my sugar fix and taking you to my favorite dessert places on Sawtelle in Los Angeles. If you've never heard of Sawtelle, it's a neighborhood in West Los Angeles known for its Japanese American culture. On Sawtelle you'll find sushi, ramen and boba. But they also have some delicious dessert places. My favorites include: Brian's Shave Ice, SomiSomi, Millet Crepe, and BSweet.

Brian's Shave Ice, located at 11301 W Olympic Blvd, offers authentic Hawaiian shave ice and their syrups are imported straight from Oahu. They also have Dole Whip that can be ordered by itself or inside the shave ice. The flavor combinations and toppings are endless and this dessert shop is truly a gem on Sawtelle. They now have a new location at 1425 Ocean Front Walk Window in Venice.

SomiSomi, located at 11311 Mississippi Ave, serves a Korean dessert known as “Ah-Boong”, a fish-shaped waffle cone filled with your choice of filling and topped with soft serve. They have a dozen soft serve flavors and different toppings for a customizable experience.

Millet Crepe, located at 2011 Sawtelle Blvd, a creperie that offers grab and go crepes. They have specialty combinations or you can build your own. Their most popular flavor is the creme brûlée, but I got the apple crumble and that was my favorite.

B Sweet, located at 2005 Sawtelle Blvd, is a dessert-bar that features bread pudding, cakes, pastries, cheesecakes and more! Their specialty flavor is Ube, a purple yam that's popularly used in Filipino desserts. I got the halo, which is a warm glaze donut with ice cream in the middle. I highly recommend the halo or the bread pudding.
