Born in Boston in 1849, Weeks went to Paris where he studied with Leon Bonnat, and Jean-Leon Gerome at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Later he traveled to North Africa, Spain, the Middle East and India. Weeks was also a writer, photographer, and illustrator. The book "From the Black Sea through Persia and India" is a detailed personal account of his travels in Asia.
