Folks want to know if a horse trainer can properly train a mule. If you ask a horse trainer, chances are he'll say yes - and truthfully there are some things a horse trainer can do for ya... SOME THINGS.

Mules and donkeys are as different as night is from day and if you want the most enjoyment and greatest productivity from your time with your mule or donkey, you want to work with someone who KNOWS MULES AND DONKEYS.

The breeding of a horse is different than a mule. The horse bone structure is different than a donkey or a mule. Fixing problems with a mule is different than with a horse. The language a horse speaks is different than a mule or donkey. The halter location for a horse is different than a mule or donkey.

Here is the thing - it's not about CAN a horse trainer train your mule or donkey - the question is SHOULD a horse trainer train your mule or donkey. If you're serious about being a mule owner, the answer is no.

You want to pair up with an experienced mule/donkey trainer who can TRAIN YOU to understand and communicate with your animal.
