Arsenal have added a new striker to their shortlist after missing out on Benjamin Sesko, and they have now asked for information about a potential move.

Artem Dovbyk was one of the stars in La Liga in the 2023/24 season.

Dovbyk finished the season with 25 goals in all competitions, 24 of which came in the Spanish top-flight – more than any other player in the division.

That has made him a wanted man, with reports linking Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur with the 26-year-old, who has a £34 million release clause in his contract

Now, it looks like Arsenal have joined the race to sign him this summer.

Journalist Rudy Galetti has revealed that Arsenal have asked for information about Dovbyk as they look to strengthen their attack in the summer transfer window.

However, the Gunners face competition from other clubs, including Atletico Madrid and Napoli.

Galetti tweeted: “Arsenal asked for info on Artem Dovbyk, among the names on the list to strengthen the attack.

“Napoli – who already approached his entourage – are also in the race for the Ukraine striker, together with other MANY clubs – Atleti included.”

Dovbyk was just a joy to watch for Girona in La Liga in the 2023/24 campaign.

The Ukraine international, who finished the season as the top scorer, has everything you would want from a striker in his game. He is really complete.

Total Football Analysis describes him as a striker who is “deadly, fast, strong, has good ball-striking and decent link-up play”.

The scouting website has further compared him to a Manchester City superstar.

“This makes him more of an Erling Haaland than Harry Kane, for example, but considering Michel’s style of play, that is exactly what he’s supposed to be,” they write.

If Arsenal sign Dovbyk and he has even half as much of an impact as Haaland has done at Manchester City, the Gunners will win the Premier League title next season.
