Talk About Past Activities/Events- Materi Kelas 8 Semester 2

We use simple past tense, when we want to talk about interesting experiences or activities or events we've had.

Simple Past Tense is a verb tense that is used to talk about many things that happened or existed before now.

Example :

Teacher : Andi,Tell me about your holiday?
Andi : I just at home. I helped my parent at the garden,
We planted many vegetables and flowers.
Teacher ; Wow, it was so wonderful Andy. You did great things.
What about you, Hannah? What did you do during the holiday?
Hannah ; I went to the beach, Mam.
Andi

The Simple Past Tense shows that you are talking about something that has already happened. Unlike the past continuous tense, which is used to talk about past events that happened over a period of time. THE SIMPLE PAST TENSE emphasizes that THE ACTION IS FINISHED IN THE MEANTIME OF SPEAKING.

We can also use THE SIMPLE PAST to talk about A PAST STATE OF BEING, such as THE WAY SOMEONE FELT ABOUT SOMETHING.
This is often expressed with the simple past tense of the verb TO BE and an adjective, noun or prepositional phrase,
example :
It was so tiring but I am so happy
it was so challenging
It was really an unforgettable holiday!
