Rani Mangammal is a woman of tact, political skill, and great wisdom. History of Madurai is incomplete without highlighting the role of Rani Mangammal. During those days women were given little importance in public administration and governance. She was the first women-ruler of Nayak dynasty. A visionary queen who wasn’t just an excellent administrator but also extremely popular among her subjects. She is remembered even today for her excellent public-works.
