Painting quickly is something I'm not great at, but, recently I've found a groove in getting gouache plein air sketches done in around 45 minutes. Essentially, I go on location and paint as much as I can in about 30 minutes (I know it doesn't sound like much but you'd be surprised). I should also mention that I use an A6 sketchbook so that helps a lot as well.
