If you don't know how to sew, but want something new to wear? You can use the T-shirt idea. The T-shirt is already half of the dress with a processed neckline and sewn-in sleeves. You just need to make the appropriate length and sew on a skirt made from a straight piece of fabric. The main thing is that the width of the skirt is greater than the circumference of the hips.
Embossed sewing fabric looks especially beautiful. I recently bought 1.5 meters of this fabric for a dress. The material is thin, light, has excellent breathability, perfect for summer. The embroidery is of excellent quality, so you can’t tell the difference between the front and back sides.
I also prepared a T-shirt. These things are new, so before work I soaked them in water to avoid shrinkage after washing.
1) First, I tried on the T-shirt and noted how much length needed to be cut off from it; according to the idea, the skirt would be attached 5-6 cm below the waist; I also cut off the sleeves.
2) I placed darts on the bust line.
3) I made the skirt from 2 tiers. For the first tier, I measured the width of the T-shirt and added another half of the width (if it is 60 cm, then the length of the tier is 90 cm, this is half the measurement).
4) The second one was calculated in exactly the same way. I assembled it into assemblies and attached it to the first tier.
5) The front of the T-shirt will have an openwork yoke, try on its length, draw a line, make a slit, cut the shoulder line. Using this pattern I made a new fabric yoke.
6) I sewed it on instead of the cut part.
Neck treatment:
- I prepared a strip of knitwear, 3 cm wide, measured the length along the neck of the T-shirt, it should be slightly smaller than the neck. She closed the strip and folded it in half. I applied it to the neckline from the front side and stitched it.
- I cut out the sleeves at the seam, cutting off the upper part, and folded the cut.
- I sewed the sleeve into the armhole, as with a regular sleeve.
- I turned up the open armhole.
- I gathered the skirt along the waistline and sewed it to the T-shirt, and sewed on the petticoat.
Despite the fact that the dress is loose-fitting, it looks gentle and romantic.
It is very simple to sew: we cut one, sew the other.
All the best!
