HONG KONG - Today weāre eating legendary seafood in Hong Kong, including the original Typhoon Shelter Crab!
Huge thank you to Virginia for helping me arrange this Hong Kong food tour. Check out her videos āŖ@hongkongfoodtoursā¬ and her food tours: https://humidwithachanceoffishballs.com/
Ap Lei Chau Market (https://maps.app.goo.gl/AnU9QghRLHsBT...) - To begin this Hong Kong seafood tour we started off at Ap Lei Chau Market where we bought some fresh seafood before going upstairs to the food court. Thereās an amazing restaurant at the top where they will cook your seafood, and itās as fresh as possible, and extremely delicious.
Hing Kee Restaurant (https://maps.app.goo.gl/GdFtni2BgX6QD...) - We met up with Eugene, at his family restaurant where. His Grandfather originally cooked crab on a boat in Hong Kong harbor, and they made the original Hong Kong Typhoon Shelter Crab. The recipe has since evolved into a mountain of fried crispy garlic, but to my surprise the original recipe is mainly based on fermented black bean sauce. You have try both versions!
Sampan Boat Restaurant - Finally Virginia we had one more seafood restaurant this time, on a boat with the typhoon shelter of Hong Kong to get a glimpse of the real history.
