San Diego, California, USA: BNSF ET44C4 Tier 4 GEVOs start-up at Caliente at the La Mesa Model Railroad Club. My HO scale freight train is traveling east and going up the grade toward Allard on October 8, 2023. The grade from Caliente (the first floor of the layout) to Rowen (to the second floor of the layout) is a 2-1/2% typical grade.

The La Mesa Model Railroad Club is located inside the San Diego Model Railroad Museum.

I use Digital Command Control (DCC) to control my locomotives with a NDC Power Cab. All my locomotives have speakers and have sound. This is what we call DCC & Sound.

Each of my BNSF locomotives:
* Has a computer (called a decoder)
* Are powered with electric motors
* Have speakers
* Have LED lights
* Have custom locomotive sounds
* Are programmable
* Are highly detailed models
* Are all speed-matched

Speed-matching means all the locomotives all travel at the same speed together. My train can go approximately as slow as 1 scale mile per hour to 60 scale miles per hour.

The La Mesa Model Railroad Club models from Bakersfield, California, USA through the Tehachapi Mountains to Mojave, California. The era of the model train layout is in the early 1950s. The mainline track is approximately 30 scales miles. When you add all the track on the railroad, there are approximately 90 scales miles of track.

The San Diego Model Railroad Museum is located in the Casa De Balboa building in San Diego's famous Balboa Park. The San Diego Model Railroad Museum is the largest model railroad museum in North America. Balboa Park is a 1,200 acre historic urban cultural park which is located just minutes north of downtown San Diego.
