While fuel cells are a promising future energy source, we lack an interim solution that can be rapidly deployed. In a joint research project, Fraunhofer IPT, FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences and Präwest Präzisionswerkstätten Dr.-Ing. Heinz-Rudolf Jung GmbH & Co. KG developed a plug-in solution for existing systems. With the patented MicroMix design (MMX), we eliminated COx emissions completely and managed to keep NOx emissions at the same level. Using the Laser Powder Bed Fusion process (LPBF), we can design this combustion chamber as an integral component and reduce costs and assembly time by up to 90 percent. The MMX concept is already proven in first operational tests.
