Ringing Grandsire on the 38 cwt twelve at Newcastle Cathedral. Though not the best-sounding bells there are these are an excellent twelve in many ways, being good to handle and strike and all clearly audible. In amongst the bells is a huge bourdon bell ('The Major') which weighs nearly six tonnes and is hung for swing chiming. Considering this was a group of ringers who had never rung together before, let alone on 12, it was a decent effort and got better!
