US Sanctions Tehran Over Nuclear Escalations As Iran's Presidential Polls End | Firstpost America
The United States issued fresh sanctions targeting Iran in response to "continued nuclear escalations". US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Washington remains committed to never letting Iran obtain a nuclear weapon, and that US is prepared to use all elements of national power to ensure that outcome. In the meantime, polling stations in Iran opened for a snap Presidential election, following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi. Around 61 million Iranians were expected to vote in the election and over 58,000 polling stations were installed across the country. Results of the elections will be declared in 48 hours after last ballot.
