Possible causes of air bubbles in pool pump or in the pool. The most common question why is there air in my pump or getting back into my pool. On the pump in the sight glass it should be totally clear without any air if not you know that there's a problem. First thing you want to check is the skimmer you can see the water is too low on the skimmer it should be between those two screws (about halfway up the faceplate) and it's right at the bottom of that one so it's barely getting enough water in the skimmer. The air we were talking about in this pool is right here from the return you can see there's air stream coming out here and there's bubbles on the surface. So let's go find out what the problem is here. From the skimmer these pipes come out of the ground to any of these connections that could be leaking, there is an o-ring in this valve that could be cracked so you need to take it apart and check that. Other connections, from the bottom drain that can also be pulling air, the threaded connection on the front of the pump that could be leaking just from movement, from people stepping on stuff for moving the pump around to get in places. The other thing you want to check if there's an o-ring on this winterizing plug, this part of the pump is under suction so if this o-ring is missing or cracked it'll definitely be pulling an air. Same thing here there is a black o-ring and it goes all the way around this lid. Turn the pump off pull this lid off and check the o-ring if it's missing or if it's you stretched or cracked then it will need to be replaced. One of the things you will see is scaling build up, that's how you know the pump was leaking but that's not the problem with the pump pulling air but you can tell the pump is on its last legs.
