Next in the Green Wisdom Herbal Medicine-Making Tutorial Series: How and why to use alcohol and water to extract your herbs! Alcohol and water is the best combination for optimum extraction of herbal constituents for most plants (but not all!). However, the widely variant chemistry of plants means there are widely variant ways to make tinctures, if you want to make the best. Learn the difference between the folk method and the weight/volume method of tincture-making. Part 1 focuses on the use of dried herbs, part 2 will teach you how to make tinctures using fresh herbs. Further videos show how to make alcohol-free extracts using glycerin and apple cider vinegar.
