Have you heard of Cyril Dolman, AKA Slim Wilson? From the 1930s to the 1950s, Slim Wilson was a popular musician in the Canadian prairies!

Born in England, Cyril Dolman immigrated to Canada in the late 1920s at the age of sixteen. He spent time working in lumber camps in northern Saskatchewan as well as on farms in southern Saskatchewan. In 1932, he got into the music business. He found work with a radio station and began touring with vaudeville acts in Alberta and England. After serving in WWII, he returned to radio and hosted a morning show as well as a weekly broadcast with his band, The Prairie Sons.

This song is “Dream Ranch” performed by Slim Wilson and the Prairie Sons recorded in 1950 (Disc R-535) which can be found in the Cyril Dolman fonds (F 62) at the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan.
