The fourth panel from online symposium HOW WAS IT FOR YOU: Teaching Theatre and Performance Design in a Pandemic which took place on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 July 2021.
The panel featured 2 papers followed by discussion and closing remarks chaired by Jane Collins, Wimbledon College of Arts, UAL.
Paper 1:
Learning the “Essentials” for Lighting Design and Collaboration Remotely
Jennifer Jimenez, York University, Canada
Drawing on her experience teaching Lighting Design for Dance remotely, Jennifer will discuss learning the “essential” skills for lighting design, developing the student’s “eye” for real light, and go in depth into a collaborative project with the Choreography and Video Dance courses, with a critique of student works and overall lessons learned.
Paper 2:
A Brief View into the Virtual Classroom of Practice-based Education
Lenka Novakova, Université du Québec à Montréal, Canada
Split between University of Victoria, British Columbia and Nova Scotia College of Arts and Design (NS), while completing her postdoctoral research in the Arctic of Greenland, Lenka will elaborate on her experience and outcomes of teaching practice-based courses in Arts and Technology and Media Arts - across the time-zones.
