As an author and investigative health and science journalist, Lori Freshwater serves as a leading voice among Camp Lejeune contamination survivors. Freshwater received her MA in Journalism from the City University of New York and based her capstone piece; https://academicworks.cuny.edu/gj_etd..., on her experience at Lejeune. Beyond her personal experience at Lejeune, Freshwater served on the CDC’s Camp Lejeune Community Assistance Panel for nearly a decade. Freshwater is currently working with the University of Chicago Press on a book discussing environmental contamination by the Department of Defense.
