After having a franchise quarterback, there’s a strong argument that the second most important position on a team is having an elite shutdown cornerback on defense. Having a cornerback that can singlehandedly eliminate an offense’s main threat is absolutely critical in today’s NFL. When you look around the league, one team that I think has that already is the Green Bay Packers. They have a cornerback by the name of Jaire Alexander.

In Alexander’s three short seasons in the NFL, he’s developed into one of the premiere players at this position. His ability to shadow and cover some of the league’s best receivers and eliminate them from the game plan is what makes him extremely valuable. In three back-to-back-to back weeks he did just that. When he was in coverage in week 4, he completely blanketed Calvin Ridley. In Week 6 he took out Mike Evans and in Week 7 he also eliminated Will Fuller as well. He didn’t allow a single reception in those three games when he lined up against those top receivers. Even in his most recent game against the Vikings, he allowed just a single reception for 12 yards against the emerging rookie Justin Jefferson. In this video, I breakdown how exactly he does that.

This video is just about 7 minutes. Sit back, relax, and I hope you enjoy it!
