This is the George Washingmachine Quartet playing live featuring Ian Date on guitar and George playing the violin solo. On rhythm guitar is Tony Burkeys, and the bassist is Natalie Morrison (thanks Oasisbill for this info). At a guess, I'd say this was around the eighties.

Known for his delightful sense of humour and superb musicality, George Washingmachine is an Australian multi-instrumentalist, usually as a violinist and vocalist yet also proficient on the double bass, guitar or anything with strings. George has had a vast and varied career in the entertainment business. As a child he trained for 7 years as a classical violinist, leaving that behind to form a rhythm and blues band as guitarist, until he moved to Sydney in 1984 and started playing jazz fiddle with The Conway Brothers Hiccup Orchestra. Since that time, George has performed in countless bands and productions as a musician, actor and comedian both on stage and on screen.

Ian Date's playing has been informed and influenced by a strong love of the jazz tradition. Such guitar greats such as Django Reinhardt, Barney Kessell and Wes Montgomery have inspired his guitar playing. Ian first started playing gypsy jazz as a teenager and ran several successful Hot Club style bands in Australia. He recorded several albums in this style and toured extensively. Since 2002 he has lived in County Cork, Ireland. Ian performs regularly throughout the Emerald Isle and Europe and tours in Australia every year to continue making a contribution to Australian Jazz.

The video picture is not great, but the sound shows off the soloists to good effect.
