Röki is a puzzle adventure, basically a point & click adventure, just with different controls. You even got a inventory menu, where you combine items or drag them into the play screen to interact with these items on the world.

It plays in a snowy nothern landscape with a nordic influenced story line. So it starts as you playing as Tove a girl who is outside playing with her younger brother Lars. Since it gets late you make your way home, but since younger siblings are younger siblings, this doesn't happen without some "hide and seek" at the end, which means that you need to throw a snowball at a statue where your brother is hiding.
That's basically the tutorial to teach you how the inventory works and how you use items on the world.
You get home and quickly hear as a player, that their mom is gone and only the father is at home. But he is sleeping and mostlikely drunk.
You make some eggs for dinner and then you bring your brother to sleep.

In the night, the unthinkable happen and a monster attacks the house. Tove and Lars escape, but their father who can't wake up for some reason, gets burried under some wooden planks of the house, but tells Tove to escape with her brother. After you did escape with your sled going down the mountain you are in the cold and snowy forest. Your brother gets kidnapped there by that monster which is dragging him through a portal.
And this portal leads to somekind of fairytale world.
