Short, psychological horror film released for Film 4 productions
Nancy and her boyfriend Rory have just purchased their new home which, in their free time away from work, they are renovating. As Nancy begins to build a routine for herself, she starts to see horrific visions. These visions become more frequent and sickening as the days progress. The confusion of these events provokes questions to arise as to whether her hallucinations are part of her reality, or if they are imaginary. Frustration builds, resulting in a tragedy.
The film was created to develop Film4's '‘Shorts’ film section and specified the genre requirement of the short film as ‘Paranormal Horror’.
I was tasked to re-imagine this genre in a contemporary setting playing on current fears and cultural anxieties and capturing genre conventions through cinematography techniques and creative sound design.
The target audience was a British audience of film buffs who are drawn to Film4s distinctive and innovative film projects. It was expected that the target audience has a high level of cultural capital and will be able to identify influences and intertextual references. The age of my target audience was 18-45.
