One night during dinner at the boarding house, Andy's landlady introduced him to a new paying guest. She appeared uninteresting, dressed in a plain brown dress. Andy gave her a smile and forgot her at once. 

Two weeks later, he was smoking a cigar outside the front door when he heard someone coming out. He turned to see who it was and was pleasantly surprised.
