Those of you who have been following me for a while will know that I am a sucker for Star Wars deleted scenes. Some are goofy and straight-up disturbing. Obi-Wan brutally executing Grievous by removing his brain and shooting it with a gun is just one example. But in my opinion, the Palpatine vs Yoda duel is an example of where the deleted scene version may in fact be better than the final product. During this scene, we see Palpatine raw power of force lightning on full display. Palpatine lets out a massive barage of lightning towards Yoda. Just like in the final cut, Yoda reflects this back at Palpatine. However in this version, the lightning deflects all over the senate floor, taking out several TV screens that are recording the duel. Yoda then uses one of the recording droids to conduct Palpatines lightning behind him right into the back of his head. Realising he is potentially outmatched, Palpatine flies off, blowing a large hole in the roof that causes large pieces of debris to fall down on Yoda’s head. Pretty Awesome.
