If you are wondering how to hang curtains, we have the perfect guide to help you beautify your home with drapes. A list of essentials needed for hanging curtains include a measuring tape, a pencil, curtain rods, finials, a hand held drill, a screwdriver, drapery rings, stud finder and a carpenter's level.

Start by measuring the window for hanging curtains. Allow one to three inches of extra space on each side of the window to accommodate the curtains when they are open. Our guide on how to hang curtains will also help you add height to a room. Usually curtain rods are installed four inches above the window. Simply set up the curtain rods closer to the ceiling to make the room appear spacious.

The next step of hanging curtains is to hold the mounting brackets against the wall and mark the screw holes with a pencil. Make sure they are in a straight line by using a carpenter's level. Remove the brackets and use a drill to make holes for the screws. Hold the brackets in position and insert the screws and tighten with a screwdriver to secure the brackets in place.

You can also use our how to hang curtains guide to set up drapes layered with sheers. Using a double curtain rod insert the rod closest to the wall first and slide on a blackout drape or sheer of your choice. Secure the finials in place when you're done. While using rings, attach the curtain hooks on the curtain. Next, slide the rod onto the bracket and add the rings. The last step is attaching your curtains to the rings. Attach decorative finials at the end of each rod to keep the curtains secure. Set up a beautiful window space with these tips.
