The boards that become the fronts, backs, and sides of the box are run through the wide belt sander then a sample piece of poplar is used to introduce the shaper and how I use 1/4 inch cutters to make the box joints. I show the cuts being made in the front and back pieces.

I also show the thickness of the bottom finger. It must be slightly thicker than the others so there is some wood left to shave to align the fronts and backs with the sides.

The cuts made in the side pieces use the same cutters and spacers but require another setup.

Lastly, I show the fit of the new piece with a side made with an older batch of boxes.
