Haikyuu's biggest strength is perhaps its character writing, the beautiful inspiring stories of Karasuno's members, and the other teams'. However, whilst it has some of the best characters I've seen in an anime, there was one I couldn't help but see as... sad for a long time.

Sugawara is Karasuno's co-captain, however he's also the only third year not on the starting lineup. He occasionally gets subbed on as a pinch server or when Kageyama needs to be subbed off. Despite his short screen time, Sugawara is a beautiful character, and one of Haikyuu's most inspiring stories.
