McLaren-Mercedes' Lando Norris delighted the home crowd by being quickest on both light fuel and heavy on Silverstone Friday. His team-mate, Oscar Piastri, underlined the pace of the orange cars, with the Red Bull-Hondas of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez a shade away - particularly on the long runs. Mercedes and Ferrari seem to be closely-matched, and there could well be starring support roles from Haas and Aston Martin. Peter Windsor in this video separates the gusts from the cross-winds by looking at the general trends of the cars on both light and heavy fuel - and the trap speeds in both guises.
