This month, four companies of unmanned taxis in Shanghai have obtained demonstration application permits.

They are currently undergoing testing and fine-tuning.

Recently, reporters went to the Lingang New Area to experience unmanned self-driving ride-hailing service in advance.

After getting in, the passenger enters a four-digit phone number, fastens the seatbelt, and clicks "Departure" to proceed to the destination.

Unlike the fully staff-less model currently in Wuhan, the unmanned self-driving ride-hailing cars in Shanghai have a safety officer stationed in the front passenger seat to handle any emergencies.

In the back seat, passengers can view the route and real-time traffic conditions, and the car is equipped with features such as air conditioning and entertainment.

From the passenger experience, the ride is smooth, and maneuvers such as U-turns and evasive actions do not cause noticeable discomfort for the passengers.

However, occasional unexpected situations may arise.

Throughout the entire process, the unmanned self-driving ride-hailing car did not change lanes too frequently.

The vehicle's response to internal road recognition, narrow internal roads, and inclines was safe and smooth.

The testing companies stated that they will make adjustments to the vehicle's performance based on the actual test results.
