Here comes a rather unconventional approach to the performance of Etude No. 17 from Opus 35 by Fernando Sor (1778-1939). I've had this piece in my repertoire for ages and have always played it according to the common fingering instructions, which imply that the melody line is played on the first and second strings. Since I used to struggle to achieve a consistent sound quality of the melody notes, I have recently been working on an alternative way of playing the original melody notes mainly on the second string, not only with different positions and fingerings, but also with a lot of slide effects that I've learned by studying the music of Atahualpa Yupanqui (1908-1992). I suspect that Sor, who may have written this study for a reason, such as to train our fingers in a certain way, would turn in his grave if he saw me completely re-finger the whole piece so as not to learn the lesson he was trying to teach, hehehe...

Me gustría presentar un enfoque poco convencional de la interpretación del Estudio n.º 17 del Opus 35 de Fernando Sor (1778-1939). Esta pieza la he tenido en mi repertorio durante muchos años y siempre la he tocado siguiendo las instrucciones comunes de digitación, lo que implica que la línea melódica se toca en la primera y segunda cuerda. Como siempre me costaba lograr una calidad de sonido consistente de las notas melódicas, recientemente he estado trabajando en una forma alternativa de tocar las notas originales de la melodía principalmente en la segunda cuerda, no solo con diferentes posiciones y digitaciones, sino también usando efectos que he aprendido estudiando la música de Atahualpa Yupanqui (1908-1992). Supongo que Sor, que habrá escrito este estudio por una razón, tal como para entrenar nuestros dedos de cierta manera, se revolvería en su tumba si me viera retocar la digitación de la pieza entera para no tener que aprender la lección que estaba tratando de enseñar, jejeje...
