Hey y'all! MID SEPTEMBER HYDROPONIC UPDATE...FINALLY!!
The growth in just over a month has been amazing and interesting. How ae going to do this? LOL. Well we are learning as we go.
So far starting Tiny Tim Tomato and Space Master Cucumber.
Then some Romain Lettuce. Next want to add some Zucchini Squash.

We've (hubby & I) always wanted to try hydroponics. So we bit the bullet and trying it small scale. We're trying it now in the late summer to see if we can learn, succeed and keep it going through the winter. Goal is year round growing for sure! Follow along as I post progress videos. The progress so far has been pretty cool. Some easy steps and tools we are using are below. Links to products we're using are also below.

1 - Start seeds in water soaked rockwool cubes. Let them continue to remain in this manner, keeping up on consistent soaked water, until sprouting starts and some good growth like a few true leaves are present.

2 - Leave plant start in soaked rockwool and transfer to a vented plastic hydroponic cup with enough clay pebbles to support plant. You can also add a small stick to support, such as a thin wood kabob stick, if necessary. I get them from Dollar Tree. Place in water and plant food filled mason jar and use a black out fabric sleeve or construction paper to cover jar and roots from light.

For water plant food mixture we use Fox Farm Grow Big Hydroponic Plant Food. When starting we fill one gallon of water with 3 teaspoons food and distribute among the jars. Fill jars with enough water to cover any root growth. For refilling and subsequent feeds, we use 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of water and distribute as needed. The label has exact directions. We found this product to work great.

We've been keeping grow lights on for about 8-10 hours a day.

Enjoy, keep growing and share what you're doing. Blessings!
