East Providence police said Friday that they recovered the body of one kayaker reported missing and that they were searching for a second man.

"We were notified this morning around 8:40 am from concerned family members that two adult males did not return from kayaking late last night," police told NBC 10 News in a statement.

Police said one body was located a short distance from the shoreline of Omega Pond using a drone.

"Investigators, along with marine operations from the East Providence Fire Department are continuing the search for the second male party," police said.
